چکیده
Horzinek, Marian (Tierärztliche Hochschule, Hannover, West Germany). Characterization of hog cholera virus. I. Determination of buoyant density. J. Bacteriol. 92:1723-1726. 1966.-Hog cholera virus was subjected to cesium chloride density gradient centrifugation. Most of the infectious activity was detected in fractions with densities between 1.15 and 1.20 g/ml, with a peak at 1.16 g/ml. Infectivity was assayed by use of either the exaltation of Newcastle disease virus method or the hemagglutination exaltation and inhibition of cytopathic effect method.

Reverse transcriptase-PCR assay for detection of hog cholera virus.
A reverse transcriptase-PCR strategy was developed for the detection of hog cholera virus. Hog cholera virus template was amplified from tissue culture fluids and from tissues and blood of infected pigs, but not from samples containing other pestiviruses. Restriction endonuclease analysis identified samples as historic or recent isolates.
متن کاملThe Swine Lungworm as a Reservoir and Intermediate Host for Hog Cholera Virus
Evidence that the swine lungworm can serve as reservoir and intermediate host for the hog cholera virus has been presented. The virus, however, is ordinarily carried in a masked form and must be provoked to pathogenicity by some stress before it can cause apparent disease. In the present experiments, ascaris larvae supplied the provocation needed to induce hog cholera in swine carrying lungworm...
متن کاملThe Leech as a Potential Virus Reservoir
Leeches, fed on swine infected with hog cholera, contained virus for as long as 87 days after their infective blood meals. In three instances, infected leeches apparently transmitted hog cholera virus to susceptible swine in the process of normal feeding. Myxoma virus persisted in leeches for as long as 154 days after the ingestion of a blood meal from rabbits with myxomatosis. Leeches fed cons...
متن کاملHistopathological detection of hog cholera from field outbreaks
The study was carried out to detect and describe the outbreaks of Hog Cholera (HC) or Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in different parts of NorthEastern region of India by histopathological techniques in post mortem samples. Histopathological alterations in different lymphoid and non-lymphoid organs provides clue to confirm hog cholera disease. Pigs died of suspected swine fever (hog cholera) virus...
متن کاملCultivation of the Hog Cholera Virus
The work of Hecke on the cultivation, of hog cholera virus was confirmed with ease. Virus was grown in the presence of fresh minced swine testicle in flasks containing Tyrode solution, on the chorioallantoic membrane of embryonated eggs, and on the surface of swine serum agar. In flasks it was grown for 14 transfers; while on eggs it was grown for 13 transfers, followed by an equal number of tr...
